Services for Parent and Guardians

PEEP+ Parent & Child Group

The PEEP+ Groups (Parenting Early Education Programme) offer a welcome environment to parents/guardians and children aged under 2 years living in our catchment area. It is aimed at those who are feeling isolated and in need of support in parenting their child. The group is facilitated by My Project in collaboration with Barnardos and Southside Partnership.

Theraplay

Theraplay is used to support and strengthen the relationship between the child and parent. The aim is to improve communication and connection, support a secure attachment and reduce parental stress. It encourages positive experiences and the creation of pleasant memories that can be transferred into the family home life. Building attachment, self- esteem, trust in others and joyful engagement is central to the success of this process.

Circle Of Security Parenting Programme

The Circle of Security Parenting programme is based on supporting and strengthening secure parent-child relationships. The process can help parents to understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs, support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions and enhance the development of their child’s self esteem.

Odyssey Parenting Your Teen

The aim of this programme is to improve parent-teenager relationships and to provide parents with the skills and knowledge about how to be an authoritative parent. It looks at how to manage conflict within relationships.

NVR Programme

Non-violent resistance (NVR) addresses violent, destructive and harmful behaviours in children and young people. The methods and ideas of non-violent direct action and resistance from Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks are used in community and family settings to help parents and carers with their parenting. NVR can help parents and carers overcome their sense of helplessness in the face of family conflict and it can help develop a support network that will stop violent and destructive behaviours both in and out of the home. In addition, it can improve relationships between family members and the outside world.
